PlayStation 5 Pro is currently showing as sold out at every major U.S. retailer we checked — Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and PlayStation Direct. That's happening seven weeks before GTA VI launches, and a meaningful part of the demand is being attributed to players upgrading ahead of November 19.
What's actually happening
PS5 Pro launched at $699 and was later repriced to $899. Despite the higher price, sell-through has stayed strong, and stock is currently unavailable across the retailers that normally carry it. Standard PS5 (non-Pro) availability is holding up better but is also tightening at some retailers as attention shifts to consoles generally.
Why this happens before a big launch
This is a recognizable pattern: hardware sells out in waves ahead of a major exclusive-adjacent release, retailers get small restocks that clear within hours, and availability stays choppy until the manufacturer ramps supply closer to launch. We'd expect PS5 Pro stock to stay unpredictable through at least October.
How to actually catch a restock
- Check first thing in the morning. Most restocks at major retailers land overnight or early morning Eastern time.
- Don't rely on one retailer. Stock drops are staggered — Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, and Target rarely restock at the same moment.
- Get notified instead of refreshing manually. Use the alert list below, or a browser stock-tracking extension.
- Standard PS5 is a reasonable fallback if you don't specifically need the Pro's extra power — GTA VI is confirmed for both.
