What started as a September 24 datamine leak is now official. Rockstar Games has confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection — a $399.99 limited physical box, available for preorder now, arriving November 19. Here's exactly what's in it, what it costs, and what it doesn't include.
What's confirmed
What's actually in the box
Rockstar lists 11 physical items in the collection, including:
- GTA VI–branded Oakley Frogskins sunglasses
- A New Era fitted hat
- A collectible figure
- A bag
- A pin set
- A full Leonida landscape poster
- Additional apparel and accessory pieces
What it does not include: the game itself. GTA VI is a separate $79.99 purchase, same as always — this box is pure collectible/lifestyle merchandise.
Worth knowing before you preorder
The $399.99 price and the fact that the game isn't included has drawn sharp criticism in some gaming communities since the announcement. That's a legitimate factor to weigh — this is a collector's item for fans who want the physical merchandise, not a value bundle. If you're mainly here for the game, you don't need this box.
Rockstar has also said more GTA VI apparel and collectibles are coming, so this won't be the only premium item available before or after launch.
Why it matters beyond the box itself
This confirms a pattern that's been building for months: GTA VI is being monetized well beyond the $79.99 game — a $99.99 Ultimate upgrade, the official 34-song album across streaming, CD, and vinyl, licensed controllers and cases, and now a $400 collector's tier that doesn't even include the game. Rockstar is testing how much its most engaged fans will spend around the franchise, not just on it.
Should you buy it?
- Buy it if: you're a serious collector, want the physical merchandise for its own sake, and $400 on top of the game itself doesn't change your plans.
- Skip it if: you're primarily here to play the game — none of this affects gameplay, and the standard $79.99 purchase gets you the full experience.
- Move fast if you want it: Rockstar has flagged this as limited while supplies last, and boxes like this have historically sold out.
